The New York Times was established on September 18, 1851, and didn’t introduce full color on its front page until October 1997—a notable shift in presentation that still honored its longstanding commitment to journalistic integrity. As a Gen X photojournalist, I’ve always been partial to black-and-white imagery. I find it less distracting, more focused—though that’s a personal preference. I prefer to work with natural light whenever possible, often using a single flash for subtle enhancement. On commercial shoots, however, I apply studio techniques—even in the field—to render the most beautiful and polished results. This portfolio features black-and-white photographs from a range of shoots, including editorial work, stylized fashion, and commentary pieces created for client publications.
The following are black and white film and digital images.
